Exactly as the name suggests the songs are quite complex. General idea of the band which I understood is different feelings and events presented in their original state.
The feelings are complex themselves, not everyday, not metaphysical, just human experiences that either become subliminal or are only brought up in introspection. Ex- capturing a moment of beauty or happiness, explaining time, love, innate sorrow, realization of loss, etc.
Events are rather well defined in songs and very graphic in lyrics, but of course presented like a phantasmagoric experience. Ex- telling a story from a third person perspective, war, invocation of God (though I don't know what God they mean- human or alien), bacchanalia like, etc.
Their sounds vary among -
1) heavy, fast, complex
2) soft, long, echoing
BTW there's no sense of femininity in the band, I mean the aura/environment of the band. Yeah they have dressed androgynous and Kisaki as feminine but the band is through and through masculine.

What makes them the BEST Kote-Kote Kei or are as called Mago (grandchildren of Kote Kei/Oldschool Kei) is -
1) Their use of Kote Kei instrumental elements, improvised and of course also original.
2) Use of synthesizer and programming. The sound produced overall is something definitely reminiscent of Kote Kei and very very unique to Phantasmagoria. Mind you no other Kote-Kote Kei band sound like Phantasmagoria and that's my guarantee!! †
3) Riku-san's vocals and lyrics. Inexhaustible vocals honestly, extensively creative, strong, and Riku-san like~ ☆
Lyrics are very picturesque, English loaned for decorative amounts, expressive, again Riku-san type~ ☆
4) Their costume!! Don't forget their costume ever because again it's so unique and one doesn't see in other Kote-Kote Kei bands, I mean the overall look because little elements can be found of course lol.

OBSTRUCTIONS // These songs I didn't understand properly (in increasing order) but they're honestly amazing nonetheless :
1) Shinsoukyouku ~Variant Jihad~ - it's about lifestaking aggression, but of a soldier or a terrorist? (・∀・)
2) Suicide Gemini - hmm love? But from what sense?
3) Nil Frontier - is it really Japanese? Really English? Buibuibuibui.
PV // They have only 4 good PV (Material Pain, NEO ARK, Hikari Ni Furu Ame, At The Ends Of The Rest Period) according to me. Lol. Kamiuta is such an amazing song but what a lame PV! :3

Eternal songs // Material Pain - the “chikara" which materialise into pain is so fucking beautifully and picturesquely sung~ Riku-san I love you~ :* I especially loved the expression “hihi" which is a sound word also describing the pain's nature/form.
- the synthesizer and guitars and bass and drums omg what aesthetic mixture plus there's one unexpected screech of Riku-san which resounds ahhhh such eargasmic screech~ ♥
Moonlight Revival - this song is minimalist most with respect to lyrics. The sound is programmed. Overall is beautiful, soothing, picturesque (yes without a PV and with minimal lyrics), heart touching~
